“The Space Between Stops” combines Chicago transit data with research on casual conversations to highlight moments of connection we usually overlook.
My goal was not to encourage more interaction or add pressure to already hectic commutes, but rather to gently invite reflection on what we might be overlooking in these everyday shared spaces. In the rush to get from point A to B, it’s easy to tune out our surroundings—but within these moments lie unnoticed gestures, patterns, and possibilities for connection.
